thursday breakfast?. this morning i had a plain nonfat greek yogurt with a 100 calorie pack of almonds, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a small handful of green grapes mixed in. bought them on a whim, but they hit the spot. drinking coffee with cinnamon and a splash of whole milk now.
for snack before lunch i have some finely chopped cabbage and broccoli mixed with green bell pepper, a dozen baby shrimp and tj’s aioli garlic mustard sauce.
so far my belly is liking this whole snack before lunch routine.
how was breakfast where you are?

mornin’!. I had my usual hard-boiled eggs on sprouted grain toast with flax and spinach. Will have coffee soon.
Actually, I should probably go get a pot started. I’m always the first one to the office, but I rarely make coffee because I’m not great at it. Well, since we had a round of layoffs, apparently they let go of everyone who was OK at making coffee, because whoever’s been making it this week has not been doing a very good job. I like my coffee strong, but it gets to the point that it’s bitter. Yuck.
tuna fish. mixed with apple, sunflower seeds, and light honey mustard dressing.
interesting. how does that taste w/ the honey mustard dressing?
I make my own using honey and mustard and htat’s it. Leftover habit from college Sunday Dinners.
It’s really good! I hate mayo. but don’t really like plain tuna fish, so I just decided to try the honey mustard one day and it was delicious. I use Newman’s Own light honey mustard… just enough to moisten it up. I’m not one for drowning my food.
hmm, I will try it! §.
Egg whites with salsa. 4 egg whites microwaved with some salsa when I got to work. Before I left the house, coffee and Vitatop. Have another big coffee I’m drinking now with my eggs.
I have a pile of snap peas for a morning snack, with some hummus if necessary.
you can microwave eggs????. i had no idea!
you can but…. I think it makes them tough…
Agreed, can cause weird texture. That’s why I mix them with the salsa and watch them carefully. I put them in the bowl and mic for 1 minute, then stir, mic for 30 more seconds, stir, add salsa, mic for 30 more seconds. If somehow they look like they’re cooking more quickly, I cut back the time.
Never cook them in the shell in the mic; they will explode!
They don’t always come out perfect, but always edible, and sometimes I like to avoid carby breakfast (like my usual oatmeal), so it’s an easy way to do that.
hungry girl has a collection. of microwaved egg recipes:

some recipes/tips. Hungry Girl has tons of recipes for microwaving eggs. As you’ll see from her recipes, I do think they come out better when you use a liquid egg substitute rather than real eggs. Real eggs work as well, but they can easily come out more rubbery.

at work, a bunch of us microwave them in. those steamer ziplock bags. You put them in there and cook for about a minute. Check them. If still runny, do for another 10 seconds until they’re firm. They actually turn out pretty god. You can even add veggies etc for an “omlette.”
Great idea! §.
I am not a big breakfast person….. I know! I know! I really do need to start getting myself into a different mindset. I’m just not usually that hungry in the mornings.
Right now I’ve been forcing down a piece of fruit and either a tbsp of peanut butter or a handful of dry roasted mixed nuts.
I am thinking about branching out and trying some other stuff, but I also need it to be a very quick grab-on-the-go breakfast.
I’ve been thinking about boiling some eggs and eating one of those with my fruit and nuts as well.
Me neither…. I used to feel really sick if I ate too soon after waking up (aka, within 3 hours of waking up). I started off by just having a small yogurt about 2 hours after waking. Then worked up to adding nuts. Now I can eat pretty much anything, but I have to make sure I have a good protein source, a good fat, and limited carbs to keep my blood sugar steady.
Today I had…. Some bran cereal with 1% milk and strawberries. Pretty simple but keeps me happy until lunch
.
Hi everyone!. I had a banana with oatmeal, and a grapefruit!
i am really trying to enjoy more fruits and veggies but man those grapefruit are BITTER!!!!
hi cc. you don’t have to eat 2 pieces of fruit for breakfast. eat what you like, and if you don’t particularly like grapefruit then maybe consider using those calories for something else healthy that’ll keep you full for longer – maybe some nuts or nut butter, or a hard boiled egg? that would round out your breakfast well.
I love grapefruits. I buy them by the 5lb bag at times
It’s amazing how taste buds are so different. I find them sweet, I love the way they taste, especially red/ruby.
I’m not a big fan of veggies but I am finding certain ways I can actually stand them to make them easier to eat so I actually enjoy them. Incorporating them in meals are a great way to add them.
me too peel them like and orange…. and peel off the membranes and just eat the fleshy part (ruby Red) it takes a few minutes but it is worth the wait. just try…No need for sugar..
good morning. breakfast here was a cinnamon raisin ezekiel english muffin with almond butter and a banana. and coffee.
breakky. brown rice tortilla with scrambled egg white and potato mess with pepper strips in there too.
lots of hot sauce.
No coffee since its Lent, water instead.
Low-carb yogurt first. Will have an apple and a piece of reduced-fat string cheese in a bit, probably. Not very hungry today, just stressed out and exhausted—have not had a decent night’s sleep since Sunday night.
Multigrain hot cereal. With a chopped up apple.. And vanilla protein powder.
I am out of cottage cheese and it makes me so sad.
apple/orange slices. oatmeal w/pb cinn, bs
Coffee.
me. Oatmeal with a ton of blueberries, almond slivers, and cinnamon. Also had 2 small turkey sausage patties for protein. I’m FULL!
good mornin’. Amber, I’m very jealous of your snack!
I had 2 hb eggs, a grapefruit, and coffee.
you should be. it was quite tasty
first time trying that combo, i am a fan. definitely a keeper.
greek yog. mess and coffee. §.
2 HB eggs and coffee with cashew milk. because we were out of coconut milk this morning, but there was some homemade almond milk. but almond milk isn’t really thick enough for coffee, so i blended in some cashews. my husband thinks it’s great. i still prefer the coconut, though.
Old fashion oatmeal with honey and coffee! §.
yay thursday. I think I finally got my hunger under control this morning after eating my breakfast and morning snack before 9:00 today!!!
Oatmeal
greek yogurt with honey
toasted EM with 1 TB PB
The usual, plus a stressful mtg. Greek 2% vanilla bean yogurt/berries/bran/nuts/coconut. Green tea. Then a really stressful mtg right off the bat at 8:30am and I felt bruised and dazed after, so I had some coffee (1/2 decaf) with a bit of cream and sugar. I seriously needed it, but frankly its gross…ugh…office coffee.
Raisin Bran 2 servings w/1% milk 320 calories. oh and a banana just a little bit ago
apple & veg soup §.
Breakfast was 2 eggs & spinach.. I also had 3 clementines & some coffee when I got to work.
