Day 22 and 15 pounds gone. I got on my balance beam scale this morning and saw that another pound is gone. So, in 22 days 15 pounds are gone and I got to break the 240 mark. (This morning I’m 239.)

After exercising yesterday for 30 minutes or so I felt a little lightheaded and took about 150 calories and sugar. Today I will take the sugar before I exercise and ward off the light-headedness.

We took my mother-in-law to dinner last night and I ask them to combine two Caesar salads without the cheese, and they’re able to do so. Tasted pretty good and low calories. Altogether yesterday about 1200 calories.

Today is a Down Day for me and I will stick to shakes throughout the day (as well as some sugar before I exercise).

I hope everyone has an excellent month and a terrific week ahead!

Yours,

Kalepa

the big scary M word…. Maintenance!!!!

It’s official- I went to my weigh in this weekend and my nutritionist put me on maintenance! Wahoo!!!!

Starting Stats in January: 155.9 lbs (down from 200 at my top, 170 last January) and 28.7% BF

Current Stats: 141 lbs and 20.5% BF

I finally went shopping, as all my clothes are 10’s or 12’s, and I was SHOCKED! The only thing that fits me is a 4 long.

But I’m trying not to get too excited- I’ve never successfully stayed the same weight long term. I’m always on a gradual (or not so gradual) upswing, or a gradual downswing… but I’ve never just stayed put. Any advice? My plan that I was on allowed for one non-diety meal each week, so I was thinking I might just bump that up to a day (not of gorging myself, but just eating what I want) so we’ll see how that works.

I’m really afraid I wont be able to maintain this. Any advice? How have other people done this?

Introduction and so forth.. Greetings and Salutations.

After having used Craigslist for window shopping during the long hours of work, I stumbled across the discussion boards, and this one fits into what I am currently doing in my life.

Weight has always been a challenge for me. Mostly because I didn’t care, low self esteem, and simple laziness. Now I’m at the point in my life where its time to make a positive and permanant change for the future. God is working within me and I am working to help myself as well.

Since the beginning of this year I have worked to achieve a state of healthy and productive living. Six days a week of exercise and slowly changing my eating habits. Experience has taught me adding things in at the proper time is far better then trying to flip it all in one night.

My current problem is that I’m not losing weight. Actually in the past week I’ve seemed to gain a pound or so a day. Which is weird but I’ll give the needed run down.

Age: 28

Sex: Male

Height: 5′8

Weight: Somewhere around 290

Now my current workout regime is typically thirty to forty-five minutes of cardio. At first I was on the treadmill and ellipticals. Decided last week that I wanted to switch things up and hit the track. Indoor track for now. I have to say there is a difference in moving on a belt and moving my weight on a track.

On my indoor track ten laps = 1 mile. So I started out walking/jogging a lap. I was able to get out a mile that way. Now I’m able to do two miles in the same way. Had to take a break for a couple of days due to a strained muscle. Got too happy when I figured out my legs had developed enough to actually run on my toes instead of flat footed.

I also do resistance training six days a week. I’m able to do this by working out different areas each day. Day one would be chest. Day two dedicated to abs. Day three arms and shoulders. So forth. Genetically I gain muscle pretty quickly so it was my decision not to hit the free weights. I’ve been limiting myself only to machines, because I really enjoy weight training, and will do that without cardio if I don’t discipline myself.
