Went running at the park yesterday. Did a 2 mile trail in about 38 minutes – not bad considering I twisted my ankle halfway. Now its swollen, just a strain and not a sprain. But still- it sucks, kind of hurts to walk and turn it. Driving today was painful – moving it from the gas to the break pedal. But tonight, Im going to do some Wii Fit Yoga instead of cardio type exercizes that would further impact the ankle but still get something done.
Oh yeah- I had some light hiking shoes on that when I stepped on certain sticks, holes, or pine cones I could feel my ankle roll a bit, but it had been fine until now. So I am going to look for trail running/hiking shoes with more ankle support.

running. in hiking shoes does not sound like a good idea.
i hope your ankle gets better soon.
Thanks- I have regular running shoes. but there isnt enough tread on the bottom for the surface on the trails at this park – so not only does my ankle still roll a bit but my feet also slips on the surface. My hiking shoes are comfortable for running and have more tread on the bottom. So they get more grip with less slippage – but obviously still not enough for ankle support. I dont know if anything will other than full on hiking boots
I like running/walking this trail – its 2 miles with nobody around. I can take my 2 dogs and have them off leash in this forest. The ground is covered in leaves, dried pine needles, with only a couple of muddier areas. Although once it is hotter- it becomes unusable because of the mosquitos and biting flies.
