I always forget to mention my coffee. I always have atleast a cup or 2 in the mornings with cream & sugar. Only about 2 teaspoons of sugar & creamer

    2. conbneate says:

have you thought. about switching to splenda? Just a suggestion. I like it just fine in place of sugar, and it is not too expensive.

I don’t like creamer so I can’t help you there, but I know those calories add up. You might want to investigate other options.

But…I tend to drink lattes a lot, which have WAY more calories than I need to be drinking in the morning. Oy. Gotta kick my latte habit!

    3. Ma7shT67ng9 says:

yeah I’m a big coffee drinker. and haven’t figured out alternatives for my cream/sugar.

    4. minsiusai says:

I drink coffee every day and. I personally feel adding real sugar and half in half is better than the fake stuff. I just count it with my calories for the day. But sugar is natural (I use the raw as it is less processed) and I know how much I am putting in. I dont drink milk so that little bit of half and half isnt going to wreck my diet! I did cut back from real cream to half and half but milk (even whole) makes it too thin.

    5. oilradogdal says:

i sometimes use whole cream. and sometimes half and half. when i use whole cream, i use less, so i kind of think it’s better for me.

    6. Mhn7sg67Ta9 says:

I use half and half. actually. Milk is jsut kinda gross in coffee

    7. BllseOn says:

I feel that way. about skim milk. It turns the coffee grey. Ugh.

I add 2% to coffee, and I add a lot (about 6 ounces).

    8. M7nT7gas6h9 says:

I tried skim milk twice. (with coffee) and the color and taste were TERRIBLE!

    9. UaJyttLasDuAre says:

I used to be a light and sweet girl!. When I decided to lose weight for real the last time.. I cut it out completely.

It was a tough transition, but, every day I liked it more and more. I think it took about 2 weeks to grow accustomed to the taste.

It’s amazing how your taste buds change!

I can’t drink coffee with sugar at ALL anymore. It grosses me out. And I put just a DAB of milk in.

The one thing I really noticed, however, was how naturally sweet foods are. Fruits.. veggies… I never noticed how sweet peas were until I cut out the added sugars!

    10. ceoatnnbe says:

I’m going through that transition. now…

I normally use calorie-free sweetener in my coffee, but ran out of the stuff I like about 4 weeks ago, and since have been drinking my coffee black (I’ve never been one for cream or even milk).

I started really liking the black stuff, but lately I’ve been drinking a lot of lattes…which is just bad.

The other day my bf brought me a latte, just to be nice, but I was in the midst of drinking black coffee. I took one sip of the latte and it was way too sugary.

Hoping to kick the latte habit and go all black, all the time!

    11. NoofufrenlMAzea says:

Interesting to note the preponderance. of posters on DiFo who use cream & sugar in their coffee.

Culturally, this is unusual. My nieces and nephews pick up some of their tuition money working in coffee shops. They say that the world is firmly split between “black coffee” and “candy in a cup”. Rare is the person who puts cream and/or sugar in coffee.

And, where I work, our receptionist, who keeps the coffee station percolating along (actually, dripping) says something similar. When she looks at the coffee she makes, and the refilling of the “supplements”, she says it looks like one sugar packet is used per 20 cups of coffee brewed and less of the cream.

I wonder what it is about DiFo that its regulars are so often “sugar and cream with coffee” types?

    12. MsT76ngh7a9 says:

well. I find that very hard to believe. If that were the case, places like Starbucks, which makes it’s money on the fancy coffee blends, wouldn’t be so popular.

    13. NuofMeroflnAzea says:

I was evidently not clear. What the nieces/nephews report, and what I observe is that very few people order coffee and then add cream/sugar. If they want a sweet beverage, they go for broke and get the carmel/chocolate/whipped cream stuff.

My own observation at the coffee place I go to is that in the morning, it’s about 2/3 “fru fru” drinks, and 1/3 black coffee – and the black coffee is kept black. No adding cream/sugar. If I go in the afternoon, it’s 9/10 black coffee. But then, the place I go is in a business park, so that proabably biases the mix.

Yes, the “hot candy bar in a cup” is how they make money…the observation though that I found interesting is that when a cup of coffee is served, it’s nearly always consumed black…but not on DiFo.

    14. M7ag6sT7hn9 says:

Gotcha… I guess it might be regional. Or where you go?

I am a Dunkin person, most of Boston is, and most of the coffee is ordered “regular” which here in the Bean means 2 creams 2 sugars.

    15. sensaypuhra says:

lol—that’s why my ex did–his family owned. about 20 Dunkin’ Donuts in the Mass/NH area.

    16. M77nag6sTh9 says:

yeah that’s where I live… and we new englanders have some serious D&D addictions. One in EVERY corner..

    17. NetAwe3M8 says:

I have a 2-a-day habit at DD. Large iced decaf, extra skim milk, 3 splendas. It’s the only time I drink milk or use splenda, but can’t seem to change my mix. They make it so perfectly!

    18. NzofMAlonuferea says:

Now that you mention it. Back when I used to go to doughnut shops, I remember the preponderance of cream/sugar in coffee…must be people who like those sugared fat pills are of the ilk to “adulterate” their coffee as well.

I think of coffee as its own thing, and I suppose that’s why I’m “black all the way” with it.

But I’m also pretty basic – I like my taters steamed with no seasoning, and I suppose I tend to hang with people who think similarly.

    19. Mgahns677T9 says:

could be… I will say, I haven’t touched a donut since childhood. I’m not much of a sweets kinda gal..LOL

I drink black coffee as well, just on the reg.

    20. Mag6T7s7hn9 says:

I’d also like to point out. that I’m pretty aware of your thinly veiled insults. :-)

    21. NlerMozfuAfonea says:

Well, then, you’re one up on me. because I’m not aware of them at all.

    22. menwalritaer says:

      clearly §.

    23. mnissb says:

you have an unfortunate delivery. “holier than thou” I think it is called

on the one hand I enjoy your comments and the perspective of someone who has been through some S**T, but you come off as a know it all

    24. NloeroMnzfAeufa says:

Sorry about that…it’s not intentional §.

    25. snsgpilrrhakiappe says:

perhaps it’s regional?. I’m fairly certain that if you ordered a cup of regular coffee and didn’t specify how you wanted it, the DD’s cashier would assume “light & sweet” because that’s how the vast majority around here take their coffee. All of my friends, family, and coworkers are coffee drinkers, and I only know one person who drinks her coffee black. I’ve probably only witnessed someone ordering a black coffee a few times in my lifetime.

I also know if I order coffee at DD’s I have to VERY clearly say “with JUST a little bit of milk”, and sometimes clarify that statement several times, otherwise I get dessert in a cup.

    26. kpoliucpiiirs says:

wow, only one black coffee drinker?. I worked at a natural foods store in college. My manager had a theory that men who drink coffee any way but black cannot be trusted. People in general, really, but milk/cream only people got a pass if she liked them well enough. I kind of adopted that theory myself, I guess. I can only think of one of my friends who uses cream and sugar in her coffee. Everyone else takes theirs black or with cream/sugar only.

    27. M67ahg7nTs9 says:

i drink black coffee. at my parents or when I purchase bustello coffee for the week since it’s an expresso

    28. sahknprigpiasplre says:

Yes. actually, it blows my mind the number of people around here who won’t drink coffee unless it’s light & sweet. A lot of people even have specific amounts of each when ordering at Dunkin Donuts…like a large coffee, 10 & 7 (translation: 10 creams, 7 sugars). Blech. I just have a little milk in mine, and I’ve had many people ask me how I can drink it without sugar!

    29. M7gTh6nas79 says:

eeekkK!!!. gross.. way too much. I have started asking for one cream two sugars in my medium iced.

    30. NzrofnAlfoeMuea says:

I lived in Georgia for a while. and there, you could not get unsweetened iced tea to save your life…restaurants pre-sweetened it, and some could not be convinced to serve it without sugar. You wanted tea without sugar, you asked for hot tea and a glass of ice! But I don’t remember the same thing in the coffee…black was the normal way.

There is some regionality to it, that’s definite.

I was in Japan about ten years ago, across the “street” (a very wide pedestrian walkway, complete with traffic lights for cross-street pedestrians) from a Starbucks. I went there for a hot black coffee one morning and ended up chatting with other visitors. One wanted cream in her coffee and the ‘bucks didn’t actually have any – she settled for a small splurtz of whipped cream and stirred it in.

I expected actually, to see most of the customers to be non-Japanese, partly because I didn’t think Japan had our coffee/fru-fru drink obsession, and partly because this Starbucks was situated amongst a number of international hotels. But there were LOTS of Japanese youth there. I didn’t think to study what they were consuming, but I don’t remember seeing much in the way of whipped cream on the drinks. One of the added profit-makers in that particular store was a wall full of video games, which were busy the whole time.

    31. srhyunspeaa says:

I live in Atlanta now. and I detest all tea, sweet or unsweet. All restaurants here now have both sweet and unsweet. Possibly because it’s a large city, people have become pretty health-focused, and a lot of people would die before they would drink that sugary crap.

    32. nldaoavy says:

same here. Almost everyone I know puts something in their coffee. And on more than one occasion at dunkin donuts they put cream in my coffee even though I asked for just a splash of milk.

And I’ve seen the one friend who drinks her coffee black add a splenda to it.

When I worked in restaurants, I had to constantly replace creamers and sugars.

    33. Nwoeufnd_Hotness says:

It could be…. I think the latte thing is more of a west coast thing.

My Dad from the East coast had never tried one. Black, cream, sugar.

Many coffees are essentially steamed milk flavored with coffee and syrups.

Coffee officianos correct me if I am wrong.

    34. kupioriipicls says:

I was going to run this morning but slept right through my alarm. My cat woke me up a few minutes before I’m supposed to leave for work…I wish she had let me sleep. :(

After work, I’m helping a friend paint her apartment so if that counts for exercise then that’s all I’ve got.

    41. kpioipcruliis says:

i didn’t want to get up either. My alarm went off and I told myself, “I’m too tired to go to the gym. I’ll sleep for another half hour and then do a workout DVD here.” 30 minutes later, I was hitting snooze again, telling myself my run tonight would suffice. I think I could have slept until 9 today though. Rare for me.

    42. Aanmad20 says:
