I hate that stuff. I like ricotta, Greek yogurt, and mascarpone, creme fraiche. You know you don’t have to eat what you don’t like, right?
I know that. But I couldn’t stand non fat yogurt but mixed with fruits or jellies its amazing.
But can’t figure what to add into cottage cheese.
the only way I’ve ever liked it. bake a sweet potato, then scoop out the inside, mix it with cottage cheese, then put it back and bake it again
Hmm will try that one tomorrow §.
Now that sounds good missnb!. Must try!
I use jam. in mine. Try the same stuff you use with yogurt.
pineapple §.
Freshly ground black pepper. on mine thank you.
ditto §.
Eaten it since I was little, my Grandma always. made us big bowls of cottage cheese with canned peaches she jarred every summer.
Ditto peaches.. I also like pineapple.
I only like it if its got a 75% + fruit than the. cottage cheese ratio
i used to eat it with. honey or jelly. both were really tasty. i wasn’t into eating it as a savory dish.
i like all kinds of toppings. I like it with sliced tomatoes and green onions with sunflower seeds as a savory salad.
I usually eat it with peaches, oranges or berries and walnuts or almonds. Can drizzle in some honey if the fruit is not sweet enough.
Can also mix it with salsa for a higher-protein dip.
You can definitely try different brands of cottage cheese to find one you might like better. Some people prefer theirs more wet, others like it drier.
Also, no-fat cottage cheese is pretty much universally canned as being disgusting. It’s pretty easy to find 1 or 2 percent varieties that taste much better.
i prefer. my cottage cheese with nuts and cinnamon. sometimes i add molasses and/or pumpkin. it took awhile for me to get used to, but i don’t eat it that often because the sodium content is high and i’m pretty sensitive to salt.
i also saw this recipe on the real simple website today using cottage cheese and thought it looked tasty and was a creative way to use it.
1 14-ounce bag frozen broccoli, thawed
1 cup low-fat cottage cheese
kosher salt
1 5-ounce package pita chips
Directions
Puree the broccoli, cottage cheese, and 1/8 teaspoon salt in a food processor until smooth. Serve with the pita chips.
i’d probably add fresh herbs and some chopped tomato and maybe sprinkle feta in it too. and omit the salt.
try this. I like it with a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top. the top gets warm and melty but the cottage cheese stays cool
Love it!. But not alone…
Mixed in an omelet with loads of veggies for some added protein.
But I eat TONS of CC! Always with pears, berries or pineapple! SO yummy!
ot. but i love your use of the ! in your posts.
(there goes two more…)
different brands and fat % make a difference. I like 1 % of greater. FF is not that great. Also different brands so experiment a bit.
you can mix the same things you would put in yogurt to make it sweet
Or you can make it savory with seasonings and meats etc.
rachaels gormet cottage cheese. looks good. it has all different types of yummy fruit included. haven’t tried it yet. but the yogurt is DELICIOUS.
faux caprese. cherry tomatoes, black or kalamata olives, fresh basil ribbons, freshly ground pepper
or
mixed into a red pasta sauce
or
plain
Try lowfat, nonfat is gross!
I like the non fat. It wasn’t even something I had to “get used to”. The other was just too thick. I like it with any fruit.
I get the small curds. and I eat mine with canned fruit. Usually Pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, apricot halves, pear halves or fresh blueberries with toasted almonds
I’ve tried to no avail. And finally gave up.
There are too many things that I like that it wasn’t worth trying anymore to choke down something that disgusted me.
I don’t. §.
meh. I’m not into it. I’ve tried it a couple of times and it was ok, but it takes a lot for me to get over the texture. Not worth it.
I would echo the small curd suggestion…. I really like mixing it with the frozen berry blend from Costco, then adding ground flax, as well. The Knudsen brand seems easier to swallow for some, as it’s less chunky. Some folks have also suggested trying whipped CC if you can find it.
With pineapple or peaches §.
If you don’t like it, don’t force yourself. to eat it, regardless of how healthy it is. Why make eating healthy a negative experience by eating food you don’t like?
I didn’t like it at first but I got used to it. I can’t eat it too often. I prefer Greek non-fat yogurt with a bit of honey.
i’m off and on with it. lately, i haven’t had it together enough to bring my yogurt into work, and they sell it in two serving (really one serving, 200 calories) containers, so i eat one with some fruit (they sell big containers of cut up strawberries) and some almonds (today they were out.)
also, different brands taste different. and, like anything else, the lowfat is almost always better than the nonfat.
Honey and Almonds. Almonds usually raw unsalted. Also, get the good stuff. Kroger (or Food Lion, Publix, Wal Mart, etc) brand usually sucks, I spring for the good stuff and it’s worth it (usually Friendship 2%).
with peaches or pineapple. so good it’s sinful
It is nasty all right.. You should get paid every time you eat any. Too bad everything isn’t as easy to avoid eating as Cottage cheese.
I have gone the last five years and haven’t eaten any!!!! I must have great willpower.
