I need help losing the 2nd 50 pounds. i have 50 pounds to lose…(i have already lost 50) has anybody plateaud after losing part of their weight? if so what did you do to get past it? i have increased my cardio and i still eat the same as i did when i
lost the first 50. i think cutting any more calories would be unhealthy. im very frustrated, spring is around the corner and i wanted to be my goal weight by summer.
on a typical day i eat 5 meals. i try to keep my calories between 1200 to 1400 depending on how active i am that day.all of my meals include protein and veggies i have a good carb(sweet potato or whole wheat bread or pasta)with the meal i eat right after the gym. breakfast is usually two eggs, one is just
the white. with fruit or yogurt and lowfat deli ham or turkey bacon. lunch and dinner are usually grilled chicken and veggies. in between meals i have hummus and carrots or lowfat cheese and almonds. i do strength training three days a week, and i do 90 minutes of cardio five days a week. everyone that works at my gym is telling me the
plateau is normal, and i know it is but this makes the third time this has happened. the other two werent for this long. i started working out in march, but i didnt REALLY work out (regularly) until May so from May
to the first of december i lost 50 pounds.
any suggestions on losing the last 50 pounds?

Keep at it. Maybe try calorie zig zagging or mixing up your exercise routines (intervals, increasing intensity, etc.) in case your body has adapted too well?
A few years ago I was running with a partner. We’d generally run 40-60 miles per week, but at a slow pace. I stopped running with him and picked up different partners. I decreased my mileage, but went faster. Without changing anything else, I gained speed in my running and lost a pound or two (I was in maintenance and not trying to lose anything, so I was surprised when this happened!)
For strength training, are you lifting heavy? March – October of last year I was lifting kind of heavy, but not really pushing myself. I started doing that in November and have noticed a huge difference.
There is a regular poster here, UrJustADayLate, that just went through a long plateau. Hopefully she’s around and will chime in!
Don’t give up! You’ll get over it!
what is zig zagging?. thanks for the support and the encouraging words!
Here’s a link to it.
Thanks for that.
suggestions. • Increase your calorie intake. Your body may have gone into starvation mode because of your activity level and because you’ve been sustaining on so few calories for so long. Starvation mode makes your body hang on desperately to every pound it can. If you start eating more calories regularly, your body will realize it’s not starving, and you’ll break your plateau.
• Incorporate weight training into your exercise regimen. Your body will start to burn more calories as you build muscle, because muscle fibers burn more calories at rest than fat does. Muscle is also much leaner than fat, so you will notice that your clothes are looser within a very short time.
i do strength training 3 days a week. and i am so scared to gain weight if I increase my calories. how much should i be incresing them?
dont increase them. sarikakaajal@gmail.com

You should read this book. It talks about how diets never work permanently. It’s so true, I lost weight this way and can eat whatever I want, it is very simple to understand..you can read about it at http://www.neverdiet.net. Good luck!

Keep at it. Sounds like you are going about this very smart. This might sound silly, but you mentioned you are a member of a gym. (if you gym offers these)I would suggest you to join one of the free classes. This is good because the instructors make sure to switch up the exercises and which muscles are being used. They also motivate you to push yourself just that little bit harder than you would on your own. Everyone is there for the same reason, and dont feel intimidated if everyone looks like professional athletes. All the more reason to take advantage of it!
I started doing fitness classes at my gym and look better than ever, finally convinced my boyfriend how great it was and he lost 40 lbs in 5 months.
