    Hello DiFo from a long time lurker. I’m at work and need to leave. I thought I’d write this now rather than later from home because a) I’d probably put it off and b) if anyone responds it would give me something to cheer up my evening.

      Just a thought. I cant really help much with the food side of things but what if you only carried enough money for the day? If you know you are going to buy breakfast and bring your lunch then only bring enough money for that 1 bagel. I had to do this when I had a class next to the deli cart, cant buy more food if you don’t have money!

      Welcome!. I have struggled with overeating (though never with an ED) for most of my life. Only in the past few years I have learned to control my appetite and eat an appropriate amount. There were days when I weighed 470 lbs and ate a pound of lunchmeat with a loaf of bread and mayo by the tablespoon, among other things.

      One day about 4.5 years ago I had a moment of realization. Seems like a similar thing may be happening for you. I decided, in that moment, that I wanted to be different than I was, and take control of my life, most particularly my relationship with my body, both eating and physical activity.

      To that end, I changed many things (over time, of course). Things like not allowing foods into my house that I shouldn’t eat in large quantities; increasing physical activity; and keeping a food log.

      I think KEich had a good idea; limiting available funds may make you more aware of the impact you’re having on your finances, and waistline.

      Tracking what you eat may also help you; sometimes, folks recovering from EDs can overdo that, so if it makes you uncomfortable to a point where you feel like it’s hindering your overall health, don’t do it.
