Does anyone have this problem?. I eat healthy and have been for a few weeks now and I have lost a few pounds.. but my problem is whenever I eat I feel very guilty, even if its something like carrots and celery. I also end up thinking I should of waited a few hours till I was starving to eat something. I know its not right but I can’t seem to stop feeling guilty.
This happen to anyone else?
Thank you!

It sounds like you are really. obsessing over your eating and that I totally understand, I do that too. But be careful, by waiting until you are “starving” to eat actually lowers your metabolism. If you eat more often, little snacks, just a bite or two at a time you will keep your metabolism up. So even if you are feeling like you shouldn’t eat tell your self that you SHOULD. Assuming you are trying to lose weight and that is why you posted here.
A body that thinks it is starving will store food as fat.
Waiting until you’re starving sabotages diets.. Your body starts dialing back it’s metabolism when you’re hungry. It thinks a famine is on and that it needs to conserve fat for survival so you’ll burn fewer calories through out the day – even if you exercise. So, if you wait until you’re famished to eat, you’re inviting the very process that puts weight back on. The prudent course is to eat sufficiently that you don’t experience real hunger. that will help keep your metabolism burning at a steady rate and will make weight loss easier and weight loss maintenance more likely.
I totally. do this! I thought I was the only one..
Anyway, I’ve managed to move my obsessing over to measuring. It makes me feel better.
Hope that helps!

I obsess, and I’ve also had a history. of working too hard to lose a pound and gain it right back.
I’ve found that long-term results are easier with changing eating habits and not starving yourself. If you play your cards right, you can pretty much eat through the day and not get that hungry feeling at all.
You might want to try going on a couple of weeks of high protein/veggies and stay away from foods and veggies with sugar (such as carrots) and get those cravings under control. Once you get through 2-3 weeks you can slowly introduce fruit and grain back into your diet.
Do some reading on the glycemic index about which veggies are best for you and avoid things that are high in sugar.
Best of luck to you!
Guilt as I see it. Guilt is really your since of fear that you have wasted your effort by undoing it. I got pasted that by teaching myself that it’s the total intake over time, not per day, that matters. My target is an average of 1800 cal a day.
While I do not believe there is a starvation mode. I do believe that when people seriously under eat, it generates graving that cause people to eat more (binge) when they do.
feeling guilty. you should eat at least every 3-4 hours.
If you eat 4 meals a day you can break them down into how many calories you eat in each so that you never go over the amount of calories in a day.
Here is how I break mine down.
I eat 1400 calories in a day (most days it is hard to eat the entire 1400)
Breakfast
350 calories total
40% of those calories come from Carbohydrates
30% come from protein
30% come from fat
Caloric content
Carbohydrates 1 gram = 4 calories
Protein 1 gram = 4 calories
Fat 1 gram = 9 calories
If you break that down into one meal it would look something like this.
Grams Per Meal
say that you are going to eat something that totals
35 grams of Carbohydrates.
26.3 grams Protein
11.5 grams fat
if you take the 35g carbs X’s 4 you get 140 calories from the carbs
if you take the 26.3g protein X’s 4 you 105.2 calories from protein
if you take the 11.5g fat X’s 9 you 103.5 calories from fat
that is a total of 347 calories in 1 meal.
if you are eating 4 meals a day and keeping under 350 calories
you should be able to lose weight very quickly if you add a workout routine with your diet.
I stated doing this 3 weeks ago and I have already lost 26 lbs.
Along with changing my eating habits I add at least 45 minutes of cardio exercise at least 6 days a week.
If you are not eating you are not giving your body the fuel it needs to actually burn calories and lose weight. That is why people that eat less than 2 meals a day end up gaining weight. Yes you may lose a large amount of weight in the beginning but you always gain it back and end up with health problems.
It is good to keep a food journal so that you don’t go over your calories during the day.
Never starve yourself…if you get hungry in between meals then
eat 2 small snacks of fruits or veggies or even nuts in between your meals. But remember to stay under the amount of calories you plan on doing in a day. Remember fruits and veggies especially raw ones are very good for you.
