  • Breakfast and who\\\’s the coldest game

Breakfast and who’s the coldest game. Morning, Difo! I woke up this morning to our expected 2-degree temperature with a -15 windchill! I knew I wasn’t going to attempt my morning run in that weather. I would have done a workout DVD, but I didn’t have one that fit well within my goals for the day (cardio. I’ve been going to boot camp every other day, so I didn’t want to do anymore circuit stuff or any kind of lifting).

Anyway, I wanted a hot breakfast, but I stuck with my planned hard-boiled eggs, sprouted grain toast, spinach, half a red bell pepper and flax seed oil. I’m having coffee now.

Anyone colder than me? Did you have a hot breakfast to make up for it?

Not colder by a long shot. We are about low 30s-mid 50′s today.

I have become a total lightweight.

Breakfast not so great. My appetitite hasn’t been “right” for about 3 months now. Mix of grapenuts, shredded wheat, few pear slices.

      Must… get… off… Difo….

Not as cold as you!. Here in Boston, it’s in the low 40s and the sun is out. Much nicer than yesterday when we had a bad snow storm in the morning and then a bad rain storm at night!

Since Thursday is my work at home day, I made pumpkin peach spice muffins this morning from HungryGirl. Added some pecans and extra spices; delicious! About 150 cals a piece the way I made them (their version has 80, I think.) Ate 1 muffin with 2 HB egg whites for breakfast, and taking it easy on eating for the rest of the afternoon.

Planning an afternoon workout today; holiday party tonight, and I know I won’t be perfect, so need to ensure a good workout along with a little extra limitation on eating through the day. Probably 90 mins, cardio/yoga/resistance combo with the Wii and on Demand. Then a good shower, fancy clothes, and off!

it’s 36. out in the Bean today.

      Breakfast was my loaded oatmeal.

      I need suggestions:

Today I’m doing a secret santa exchange at a friend’s house, no time to cook anything since it’s at 6:30 and I get out of work at five. Anyway, apparently the other couple is bringing something like chicken and broccoli alfredo (DANG!!). I can’t eat that. The guy who’s house we’re going to is making typical Spanish food. Rice, beans, meat. What can *I* bring that *I* will be able to eat? I didn’t even know I was supposed to bring something since it wasn’t discussed previously. Could be a snack or anything.

Gosh I can’t wait till these holiday things are OVER!

a few ideas. Get a big greek salad from a pizza restaurant and ask for vinegar in addition to the dressing

buy a veggie platter at a grocery store

If you have a costco membership or similar they have great shrimp trays pre-assembled.

Either way, I would have a salad or something before you go and then eat limited portions of the meat that is available and whatever you bring.

    5. MhgTa77ns69 says:

      great. the greek salad. works..

      Thank you!

I am right with you! Chicago is COLD UGH. I hated taking my dog out this morning even with all the layers I put on! I can’t believe I saw a guy walking down street this AM w/out hat and only a suit jacket OPEN! His whole head was pink. Guess someone hasn’t watched the news in the past few days.

Oh breakfast was coffee and toast w/peanut butter.

i saw women. in stockings. Not even tights (thought I also saw a woman in open-weave tights), stockings. Really? I have on tights underneath my wool pants, and I was still cold.

    8. JwgilHOneeh says:

warmer today than yesterday. I think it was 46 in the car at 7 this morning.

breakfast is tasty, but looks horrible! sauteed mushrooms and shredded zucchini mixed with salsa and refried beans and hot sauce.

Also one slice from a sandwich thin and goat cheese

    9. SwnnlrnyoGeJy says:

currently 26.2 degrees in Seattle. with a predicted high of 37! It’s not as cold as you, but I still feel like I haven’t been warm for weeks :)

Breakfast was scrambled eggs & whites, turkey sausage, spinach and tomatoes. No exercise, I have to go through emissions (I got a parking ticket for expired tabs, oops!) and I have a babysitting gig after weork.

    10. BpCoos says:

      That’s a marathon — 26.2! §.

    11. aebmerach says:

my thoughts exactly. i have become such a running freak. is it weird to know the running pace of a guy you are going on a date with, but not what he does for a living? :D

    12. BpCoos says:

Sounds normal to me, but I’m probably not the. best person to ask :)

      Have fun on your date!!!

    13. m2eralv6 says:

That sounds perfectly normal to me! ;-) . Most of the guys I date, I know their paces, preferred distances, and strongest sport (swim, bike, run). I probably couldn’t say with any certainty what any of their jobs are :-P

    14. aerbelmf says:

oh, we’re fabulous!. good, glad i’m not the only one. i say you gotta get the most important things down first!

    15. aeamecbrh says:

not too chilly here. i wore a scarf and gloves during my commute this morning, but it’s not cold enough yet to warrant breaking out the hat. i love the whole tights with a sweater dress and boots look and i rock it often to work or just going out. i am going to be sad when it gets too cold for that.

breakfast here this morning was the last 3 veggie and egg frittatas with a small amount of pinto beans and a banana on the side.
per usual, also had a big coffee with skim and cinnamon later on at work.

    16. mr2lvae6 says:

Same as you… :) . Yeah, I saw that 2-deg/-15 wind chill forecast this morning and decided I didn’t want to get up early to go to yoga. Yikes!

Breakfast here was leftovers from last night’s dinner- half a vegan dagwood sandwich from Chicago Diner :)

    17. mssinb says:

eggs, broccoli, spinach. did a Pilates stretchy band video this morning

    18. lsajyds4e29 says:

Not even close…. It’s 44 in the SFV.

Breakky was scrambled egg whites and sweet potato hash again. It’s just a warming comfort food this time of year, and I definitely eat more hot breakkys than cold ones this time of year.

    19. podxdg says:

eggs, ground turkey, black beans, salsa and. cheese….not colder than you but it was a chilly 16 here this morning

    20. aebamerch says:

      hope you’re feeling better! §.

    21. pdxdog says:

Thank you. Cleared for exercise starting Monday after 42 days of bed rest and sitting on my duff. I would not wish pneumonia on anyone!

    22. arembeach says:

good news!. i’m so happy for you. i wouldn’t wish it on anyone either, sounds terrible. glad to hear you’re back in the exercise saddle soon.

    23. SpuayezrSs says:

It’s 40 degrees here, but I rode my bike. 14 miles to work!

I had steel cut oatmeal and 2 eggs for breakfast.

    24. sliegarioadntl says:

a little warmer today. the rain has brought the weather back up to a toasty 47. still a little sick so i didn’t go in to the office today.

breakfast was 3 scrambled eggs with white cheddar and chives. nom.

    25. misnsb says:

      mmmm I want that! §.

    26. snitaildgeoarl says:

i always want your breakfast §.

    27. BoopCs says:

We were supposed to be colder, but I haven’t. seen if we did it or not. Minus 20 windchill predicted but a warmer actual temperature of 5 :( If MadTownGirl is around, they got over a foot of snow so she’d probably win the “who’s got the most snow” game.

In any case, my morning run was also canceled — a bit dangerous in this weather! I just couldn’t force myself to run on the treadmill again, so I did yoga and might try to run on the treadmill tonight. I just kept postponing getting on the treadmill until I had to get to work. Winter blahs!

Breakfast was just toast. More winter blahs!

    28. LmvoeNeWodpyndarh says:

squash skin :) . I woke up kind of late, and decided to do what I decided to do last night… make breakfast! Which will be ready around lunch time, hah, so I ate the skin from the squash (cooked, of course!) for breakfast while I was cooking.

I am critically low on food, but… I have found that that’s when the magic really happens. ;)

I made a soup for lack of any other option… I was casually looking through my graveyard of a fridge, for a squash that may have escaped in the last few weeks… It was really kind of amusing, because… I did not think I would find anything… and found a huge, … semi-spaghetti squash. (it was like one of those, but fancier, with a different name…)

I was happy to find that. It may not even be anything like a spaghetti squash, hah, come to think of it, it looked more the color of butternut squash.. anyway, to the soup it went with:

a can of black beans, a can of roasted tomatoes (cross your fingers against BPAs for me, hah), a can of locally grown tomato sauce, 1/2 a can of mashed peas, lots of black pepper, sage, marjorjam, red bell pepper, and a sausage with 8g of saturated fat.

Yum! The broth tastes amazing… well, it’s not even a broth, it’s tomato juice and pea fiber… heh. I look forward to eating it. Oh! And I also added a large pinch of brown sugar to counteract the acidity of the tomatoes.

    29. LmdyWNoovnerdpaeh says:

it was a delicata squash. Mmm! I love how squash absorbs the liquid from soups/anything it’s next to… :)

    30. papamthmhe says:

since I’m in Phoenix. can I still play along? : ) To me it’s cold…high is only supposed to get to low 60′s, but I’m used to 110+ degree summers. We’ll play the “who the warmest?” game come next summer : )

My neice surprised me by making me breakfast…scrambled eggs and a multi grain waffle. Not too bad I hope. I did bring a bowl of cut up fruit for a snack later.

    31. JgOliwneeHh says:

hey stranger. how have things been for you?

    32. ppatmhamhe says:

me? or the OP? : ). Just making sure…
