• Should I take a pic with dumbbells or barbell?. Ok, so I am fat. I’m posting on a singles website.

I want to show that I am not that out of shape – I thought a picture of me at the gym would be best.

I can use 100 lb dumbbells (maybe 110 for a quick pick) – or should I use barbells with maybe 275 on it?

Can a girl tell the difference?

  • Started working out as of recent…… I started to watch what I have been eating, and cutting back on calories. I also have done a lot of running on the treadmill. I generally have been starting off light with a light job or fast walk. I sometimes try to burn myself out and have been pushing myself to do more. Today, I walked at a fast pace of 2 to 3 mph for 99 minutes… Burned nearly 1,000 calories. I used dumbbells (2 sets – 2lbs & 8lbs) and switched them off. Nearly made it 5 miles. I don’t really follow a specific regimen, but I try to push myself to do more. When I first started jogging/running my calves hurt. Today’s goal was to create endurance by going as long as I can. Well at 99 minutes my treadmill shut off since the timer was maxed out. I also use as of recent a thing called liquid protein (supposed to help burn fat as you sleep). Whether that is something that works or not, having to follow a simple rule will likely help (Not eating 3 hours prior to going to bed).

But what I am looking to do, is try to find other things to do at home for a work out. I know running will get old to me fast if I do it everyday. I am hoping to include 1 night of playing basketball a week.

What I have is 2-lb & 8-lb dumb-bells, a treadmill, and that’s about it. I know I want to give my legs a chance to rest after a day of running so they don’t get sore. I was thinking of doing a hard run one day, by a small run the next, but those are the days I am looking to do other things that will benefit me.

Anyone have advice? Thoughts? Or ideas?

    Thanks

  • Diet Program Needed. Hi, I’m a male, 21, 5′10″ about 185 lbs. Around 9% body fat, give or take a little.

My ultimate goal is 250 lbs. 5% bf or lower.

What I’m looking for is the correct diet plan to get me to this goal. What to eat, in what quantities, and at what times of the day. All posts are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mrsketch58

  • I need a little help!. I got my paycheck today and lets say, I can’t afford food. lol.

I need healthy very cheao food ideas. I know bananas and eggs. What else? Maybe even very cheap healthy dinner ideas for two?

  • What % of my daily calories should be protein?. I am on a low calorie/low fat diet. Eating about 1200-1300 calories a day. How many grams of protein should I be eating? I think I have been averageing about 35 grams (low end) to 60g high end. Also doing P90x exercise. I realize I’m probably not taking in enough calories but I have been able to keep up with the workouts and I will bump up my calories a bit in a few weeks when I lose more weight.

I usually eat one protein shake a day as meal replacement along with some fruit and fiber. The other 2 meals are usually a lean cuisine or lean hot pocket. strawberries, a plum, and at nioght I usualyl have various protein/veggies/ sometimes with cottage cheese.

    Thx

  • i hate dieting. so i ahte to diet and decided it had to be more of a liofestyle change so i set out and made a healthy menu got my doctor in volved been hitting the gym and exercising with a trainer and i cant for the life of me loose any weight or inches or anything been on this regular routine for 6 months now and no results DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS

  • what I would do without my food scale?. seriously I use it nonstop, and then meticulously track everything in Fitday on my computer. I barely use measuring spoons/cups anymore, because I find weighing everything much more satisfying, and often easier.

I never seem to learn how much things weigh either…so I find it very important to keep using it (e.g. the other day I thought, oh that’s about 4 oz of ground beef, when it was actually 6, or that’s about an oz of guacamole, when it was actually 2 – it can make a big difference)

My food scale has been the single greatest contributor to my maintenance of a healthy diet.

  • Anybody watch Kirstie Alley’s new show?. I was expecting to hate it.

I didn’t hate it. I’m willing to give it another viewing next week.

I’ve seen a couple of clips that turned me off — neither of which were in the opener.

When she went to weigh in.. I said out loud.. “230″..

I was right on the money.

She wants to lose 90 pounds. I hope she doesn’t do anything stupid.

Evidently she’s launching a new program to coincide with the show. I wonder how she can endorse it.. if she hasn’t done it yet…

  • healthy and vegetarian on the cheap. I’ve been doing great losing weight but now, I’m broke. Had some major financial problems and want to eat as cheaply (but still healthy) as possible.

Breakfast is easy…oatmeal with blueberries, flaxseed and cinnamon.

Lunch and dinner will be harder. I can get those budget gourmet meals for a buck each, but they’re pure carbs if I go for vegetarian ones. Beans and rice is cheap, but too many carbs as well…

so, any ideas for eating healthy on the cheap for a vegetarian? Thanks

  • Hello DiFo from a long time lurker. I’m at work and need to leave. I thought I’d write this now rather than later from home because a) I’d probably put it off and b) if anyone responds it would give me something to cheer up my evening.

I’m a long time sufferer of an ED, but now basically have ED NOS, which means I binge but don’t purge (anymore). That’s supposedly a good thing, but I’ve put on 15 pounds since October. I just want to stop the bingeing, the spending huge amounts of money on food. I definitely want to stop having to wonder if this morning is the one where I can’t find a single pair of pants to button.

I would like to work on making it to my office in the morning without buying $10 of muffins/bagels in the ABP in our lobby.

I feel more rapport here than in the ED forum because I do want to lose weight. But, more importantly, I want what some of you seem to have with some moderate relationships with food.
